Giving helps people do good and feel good
The Rotary International Foundation came into being at the 1917 International Convention when then-President Arch Klumph proposed a donation be taken to help with humanitarian causes. The collection given was $26.50. In June 2021 the Net Assets of the Foundation were $ 1,290,331,000.00, to say again ONE BILLION, TWO HUNDRED NINETY MILLION ++ DOLLARS. WOW, the power of shared giving multiplied, works wonders. McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club has always been a steady contributor to the foundation. In Fact, 100% of the 2022 year-long active members have made contributions to the foundation. Sixteen (16) members have earned a Paul Harris award, by giving $1000 to the foundation. Six (6) have given $2000, Four (4) have given $3000, One (1) has given $4000, and One (1) has given $8000. The local goal is to have each member contribute to the foundation each year. Sunrise Rotary is to be PROUD of great support for the Foundation. In 2021 the Rotary Foundation improved our world by expending $384,000,000 on 2200 grants. $153 Million for Polio Plus, to continue the effort to eradicate polio. $130 million on global grants many to bring healthy water to remote communities, $31 million went back into local Rotary districts to provide local community grants and $4 million for Peace Projects.
