April is Maternal and Child Health Month
According to the World Health Organization, nearly 830 women die every day from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Many times, this is due to the lack of training and lifesaving equipment which is so readily available in developed countries. Lack of proper sanitation is indeed another major cause of child mortality across the globe due to infectious diseases. Yet, even in the United States we see a need for improvement as we have the highest rate of maternal deaths among developed countries with a rate nearly 3 times that of the next closest nation.
WE ARE PEOPLE OF ACTION!
In December 2021, the Rotary Club of McKinney Sunrise donated $4,000 to Scott Johnson School for educational needs for deprived students in McKinney and in addition, donated $3,000 to the 'Living Water' project for water wells.
Based on actual results, intelligence, and intuition from implementing the Flag Lease Program, 'The Ulitmate Non For Profit Fundraising Project' is a manual for non-profit professionals and volunteers who want to implement their fundraising project to promote their cause.

With tips and tools, knowledgeable advice, and real-applied insights from the actual project implementation, this healthy resource addresses the entire spectrum of patriotic fundraising for non-profits.
President Bill received this note from Parker B. Davis this week, and we thought we would share it with you as follows:
Our club member, Dr. Mark Smith, Provost of the McKinney Campus of Collin County College, accepts the “Inspiring Service to Others” award by the Volunteer McKinney. His leadership for this award was easy as the Rotary motto is 'Service Above Self.’
Our program this week will introduce you to the Planned Giving Program of the Habitat for Humanity of Collin County.

Habitat for Humanity of Collin County
Habitat Collin County was incorporated in 1992 with the original name of McKinney Habitat for Humanity, Inc. In 2002, we changed our name to North Collin County Habitat for Humanity to reflect our expanding service area. In 2018 we merged with South Collin County Habitat for Humanity and now function together as one affiliate called Habitat for Humanity of Collin County. We enable families throughout Collin County to achieve the dream of homeownership and dignity. Habitat for Humanity of Collin County has built over 228 new homes in Collin County with the support of our community partnerships and volunteers.
We light up on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, starting at 7:15 AM with socializing at The Pantry in
